The Unsung Heroes of the Changhua Plain: A Brief Introduction -

Chiu Hsien-ta (1953-)

When Chiu was in high school, he was impressed by the broadcast which compared politics to cooking, “You need to cook the fish on both sides, or you’ll burn it!” Although he and his wife often pushed aside the business of their grocery store to join the protests, they still had doubts about those appeals, such as the re-election of the National Assembly or the direct presidential election. “How could they be possible?” Nevertheless, all of these were fulfilled, and they even witnessed Taiwan’s first peaceful transition of power. “Who would have imagined that one day we can see the downfall of the KMT?”
