Tightening Control of Campuses: The Punishment of Students after the 228 Incident

After classes resumed, the Taiwan Provincial Department of Education issued Guidelines for Self-Confession with Regards to the 228 Incident, demanding that students "confess" their activities during the Incident. After students had confessed, the department issued another decree titled Disciplinary Standards for Students Involved in the 228 Riots. Those involved in the incident were subject to punishment, with writing a letter of remorse being the lightest penalty and expulsion from the school being the most severe consequence.
