The Unsung Heroes of the Changhua Plain: A Brief Introduction -

Wu Li-hui (1952-)

While a junior high school teacher, Wu highlighted the issue of grouping by ability by kneeling down in support of lower-ranked classes, calling for their right to an education. As a lecturer introducing the idea of sovereignty during the tours of Taiwan Teachers' Union, this courageous woman was investigated by the secret intelligence unit because of on-air comments crticizing the former First Lady Soong Mei-ling. After her retirement, Wu dedicated herself to the environmental movement and became the first chairperson of the Changhua Environmental Protection Union after it was legally accreditated.
